There are currently two methods of thrust balancing:
- The AI can use the thrust balancing behavior card. This card only works in the forwards direction, and does not account for altitude (water/space).
- The Thrust controller is player-controlled and works in every direction (expect backwards). It does not account for altitude, and it also turns off thrusters in opposite directions (i.e. setting backwards thrusters to 0 forward/back instead of -1) and does not understand how rotating works at all.
It would be very useful for making odd-shaped crafts if there was a way to balance all the drives in every direction, in a way that stays functional regardless of altitude (i'd think by calculating ion/jet/props separately would be easiest, but I don't code so what do I know). As is, you need to spend a lot of time manually tweaking things, or else have a PID constantly doing course correction.
