During some combat testing against the Adrastos (provides excellent test for split AA and Main battery controls) one of the ICBMs got past the AA and detonated. Having been seeing very small amounts of damage as a result of this sort of detonation when testing my own ICBM craft I was immensely surprised when one side of my ship immediately evaporated...
I immediately went to test them my own ICBMs again and found that they were dealing similar amounts of damage, though this stopped after several minutes and a few dozen detonations leaving only the thump damage from the impacts.
While they are incredibly fun to play around with this sort of inconsistency does render the tactical nukes entirely non viable and makes them much more frustrating to deal with in the campaign as you never know if an impact will generate a detonation or simply be a frustrating dud.
Further testing shows that this extends to the AI versions, as the Grey Talon ICBMs spawned by the Adrastos dealt negligible damage after the stop occurred.
